How would you like to know that there is something lurking in the forest? Then from the water. Then from air. Then in you. Discuss about the reactions, or rather, the thinking of the boys of the beasts, and why they keep changing the idea behind the Beast.

In response to galileo's question , I have some opinions and views :
If I knew of a beast anywhere near me , naturally i would feel scared , especially if I am unfamiliar of the beast. This is because if I knew , for example , the beast is a crocodile, I would know the appropriate measures to take to not anger it and be safe. However, if the beast is one I did not know of, I would not fully understand its capabilities, and would be fearful as I do not know what to do, what to expect, how to retaliate upon meeting the beast. This is also the reason why the boys on the island tend to be "overly" fearful of the beast - in fact this would be their natural reaction and instinct. They only know of a beast being in the forest, but not what it looks like. This leads to further misunderstandings when they seem to sight things and they associate them to the beast - Samneric;s sighting of the dead parachutist's parachute - and thus the beast seems to be "evolving" , as it forever has different forms , striking more fear into the boys' hearts. In fact, the idea and fear of the beast is crafted inside the boys' hearts, as it is they themselves who make themselves fear the beast. It is themselves who imagine that the beast is a danger, that the beast will kill them. The boys' own instincts and hearts created the fear, tension and also the prowess of the beast itself, and thus the beast's looks keep changing , as each boy has a different perspective of fear in their hearts.

To me i would feel unsafe and everywhere i go, i had the fear of being attacked. From the air, water and land is the three main component of earth, if the beast came from all direction, you would probably be attacked any moment. Fear is the main feeling as one cannot underestimate the power of the beast as none had seen it yet. It might be small and weak, but what if the beast is huge? You would lose all hope of surviving soon if this continues. The beast might have different form and this would even more frightened everyone as it might be ust beside you

The beast on the island is more of superstition created by jack, which causes the other boys to be oberly fearful of it. This is because they have no explanation for many of the mystries on the island, and jack uses this chance to use fear to control them. In fact, the beast is almost like some form of religion that they boys devote themselves to, and their perception of this beast changes whenever something unexplainable happens, such as the young littlelun's death (the burning of the forest), and thus they use the beast to explain these things.
Just like the boys, I would feel unsafe as I would have no idea how the beast looks like, and what harm it can do. Since it is unknown in its strength, everything bad that happened would be attributed to it, and my fear of the beast would keep growing.
